Best New Cars for 2020 — Top-Rated Cars, SUVs, Trucks and Sports Cars

The Edmunds Top Rated Awards honor the best new cars on sale today, from trucks and SUVs to luxury and sports cars. This video takes you behind the scenes with our expert editors as they reveal the winners, the losers and the reasons why.

Here are the Edmunds Top Rated Cars for 2020:

2020 Honda Accord: Best Sedan
The Accord is a class leader. It’s an undeniably compelling package, and it’s enjoyable to drive. Some rival sedans might best the Accord in a few areas, but no other sedan puts it all together as well as this one.

2020 Kia Telluride: Best SUV
The Telluride is an impressive three-row SUV. It boasts a quiet and upscale cabin, impressive tech, extensive standard features, adult-friendly third-row seating, and a satisfying driving experience. It has a few weaknesses, but overall this Kia is a great pick for a three-row crossover SUV.

2020 Mercedes-Benz A-Class: Best Luxury Sedan
With an impressive combination of excellent driving manners, stellar build quality and a futuristic interior, the A-Class isn’t a less expensive Mercedes-Benz — it’s simply a smaller one. It earns our highest marks for a small luxury sedan.

2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE: Best Luxury SUV
The Mercedes-Benz GLE has been one of the top-rated luxury SUVs on Edmunds. This year, it’s been given a full redesign, adding more features, more refinement and greater capabilities. It should come as no surprise that the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE sets a new standard.

2020 Ram 1500: Best Truck
In the eternal battle for pickup-truck bragging rights, the Ram 1500 holds a decisive edge. It brings light-duty trucks into a new age of comfort and technology that simply didn’t exist until now. Yes, it can tow. But it can also glide, provide safety assistance, and save fuel with a diesel or a mild hybrid engine.

2019 Tesla Model 3: Best EV
The launch of the Model 3 drew a lot of buzz, and for good reason. Its unique design, innovative user interface and impressive performance make it a top scorer in our testing.

2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray: Best Sports Car
It’s rare to see a car, let alone an institution like the Corvette, so radically transformed. But Chevrolet has taken its performance icon and improved it in nearly every way. It’s bonkers fast, it handles beautifully, and it still manages traffic and daily errands. The styling may be controversial, but its price and performance certainly are not.

  1. How do you say you didn’t have enough testing on yet GT500? Edmunds owned one for awhile and has driven press versions as well. To me the better handling more power better drive and choice of a rear seat would make the gt500 the winner. Plus the issues and soon to be multiple recalls coming on the c8 make it a bad pick. Plus a base GT500SE for 70k gives you heated and cooled seats. To get a c8 close to the base options of the GT500 you are looking at $85k

  3. I trust Edmunds the most — glad the car we are looking at for 2020 at lease end is #1 rated Sedan (our other car is the Kona). We have been leasing Buick Regals but now the redesign and Premium gas requirement may have killed GM for us!

  4. Fantastic video by my most trusted online vehicle resource. The concept and videography were top-notch. And the "even better"? Easy – the winning vehicles – – absolutely no quibbles here as all were dynamite choices. And thanks for the background on Mr. Edmunds Senior – obviously the passion for 'wheels' is in the DNA 🙂 Kudos on a showpiece video !

  5. Also see the Consumer Reports top ten list for reliability, the Carsthatlast series on YouTube for older vehicles, and the Car & Driver 10Best list for how they drive.

  6. The higher trim GLE’s are nice, but I would say that the lower trim variants are bad to the point of being disqualifying. Read the review Motortrend gave for their SUVOTY testing to see what I mean. The ride quality is unbecoming and, frankly, horrendous for a car at this price point.

  7. I came here for list of best cars, and ended up with bunch of useless opinions. I don't care how you guys' personal favorite is. If you title the video as best new cars, show us best new cars.

  8. Guys we don’t care about your opinions and thoughts. Just give us the facts about the vehicles. Way too much time spent on everything but the important stuff.
